First Day Down 7 Weeks To Go

So, I had my first day orientation yesterday. It was pretty cool. Long, but I suppose necessary. You have to fill out a lot of paperwork and I guess now a days HR thinks they need to make it a fun experience in order to want people to work there. I can't blame them, a call center does not sound like the most fun job, but I think it will go well. Now I have to get used to working nights. Thankfully I'll only start off noon to 9, but after that I am going to be 1:30 to 10:30. Sure it is not the most glamorous time or job, but it is a good one, I think and more importantly it will pay the bills.

Well its summer

Well I know technically it is spring, but as far as I am concerned it is summer like weather right now in East Texas. Something I wasn't looking forward to, but have to accept.

House Shopping

We are now actively looking for houses in our area. However it may be a little while before we actually get one. Who knows. Either way it is going to be a fun process I am sure.

Easter: The Aftermath

So, we get there, to the church that I mentioned earlier.  We were supposed to be there by 1.  We got there like 5 minutes late.  While we were in the parking lot, not 2 minutes from getting our food on the tables, the lousy people inside couldn't even wait for us to say the blessing.  They went ahead and said the blessing and started scarfing down their gross ass food.  Which let me tell you, someone actually brought Meatloaf to Easter.  Meatloaf!?!  Anyway to give you an idea of how much these other people sucked.  While we were eating, several of those other people went bag with Styrofoam containers and started making to go boxes.  So how am I supposed to get seconds and thirds.  Also their food was SO gross.  We tried to only eat food prepared by people we knew.  There was some sort of potato salad there that looked like it came from one of those grocery store tubs.  They also had one of those frozen pies, that you just thaw and serve and some gross cupcakes.  Other than that it went okay.  It just took a while to get it all done.

Easter

So, right now it is raining.  This is bad.  We were supposed to go to someone's house, but the rain has made the roads impassable, apparently.  Although the people that live there were able to leave because of their magic car.  Then the backup location, they were very prepared, lost power.  So now everyone is unhappy because we have to have it in some church.  Seriously easter in a church?  Who heard of such a thing.  All kidding aside, no one knows what is going to happen and by all accounts tempers could flare.  It'll be loads of fun no doubt and to top it all off the weather is making it impossible to have the long standing tradition of the Easter egg hunt.  Seriously, rain on Easter?  Oh well, as long as I get to eat I don't care.  Oh and I made a quiche.  My first hand at one and it wasn't bad either.  Kind of fun.

Blogging

So, I have discovered I like to blog again.  I didn't do it for a while or did it sparingly because it just seemed to take up time.  However, I have since discovered that blogger lets you send new entries via email by making a special address to send it too.  Neat, huh?  Well I am using this in full force so now I simply check my email and send a new entry to my blog.  How fun is that?

Shopping

Shopping is hard.  Let me tell you.  I have been out shopping since sometime after 10 this morning.  Although I have been up since about 6 AM.  Had my final job related issues to take care of.  Either way, shopping is tiring.  Holding all those clothes and bags.  Walking through seas of people.  I just don't see why people like it all.  Give me Wal-Mart at 3 in the morning any day and I would take that over any Friday at the mall or other Womens clothing or Department store for that matter.  And lest I forget, shopping is expensive.  The more you shop the more you spend.  Odd how that works.  Well at least someone is happy, besides the retailer of course.

Debian

So, after all this, I have decided to go with Debian.  I am currently in the process of downloading the 5 DVDs to install with.  Although I could just use the first and then get everything else from mirrors, I like having software available in this way.  I am going to first test it out in VMware Workstation and then decide if it will replace my OpenSuse.  I personally look forward to testing it.

Linux

I am looking for a new distro.  I am currently using OpenSuse and Vista.  Mostly because well I have all this software and I don't feel like not using it, you know what I mean.  Anyway I am tired of OpenSuse.  Not that there is anything wrong with it.  I just want to play around with some other options.  I want to look at the new Fedora 11, but I will wait for the full release as I am not always fond of betas.  In the mean time I thought I would look at Debian and Slackware.  I have never used either and think it will be fun to take a look at them.  Also, don't even try to suggest Ubuntu or a derivative, I can't stand that stuff.  Ubuntu, in my humble opinion, is like Linux of the Windows user, and what I mean by that is it isn't for serious linux users.  It's for people who want to try this neat cool thing, but really want to keep using their XP machines to play their games.  I am also going to take a non serious look at OmniaXP, simply because it intrigued me how much its creator wanted it to like XP.  I think it might be fun to play with, but not use.  Although I was talking to a friend yesterday and we thought it would be funny to play a prank on someone using this software suite and making them think they are using Windows XP, instead of some homebrew linux.  Although I am guessing it is based on something, though it could be its own distro, I don't really know.  Either way I will be posting some screen caps and reviews of my experiences and I will take into account the fact that I am going to be doing all this virtually, thanks to VMware Workstation.

Breakfast

I think I eat too much for breakfast.  I had a Yoplait French Vanilla, which is really good.  I also had a cheddar cheese and mayo sandwich.  In addition to that I had a bowl of Honey Kix.  So basically what I am saying is that I am full.  By the way, I have to say I am feeling much better.  I took some Tussin, don't worry it is non-drowsy.  In addition to that I took some sort of chest congestion pills and a zyrtec.  Now I feel so much better.  I am full and healthier.

I got a job, maybe?

So I had a second interview yesterday and it went really well.  I just don't know if I got it, got it.  The person with whom I interviewed was supposed to get back to me with a schedule, but never did.  This slightly concerned me, but I guess they may have just forgotten to get back to me and they'll call again today.

I don't have a clue

I'm so very tired. It's almost all the time now.
